At first glance I thought
The most frightening thing
In these narrow halls
Was the blood red doors
But with a closer look
the condensation on
the flesh tone walls is worse
Who would coordinate
A color scheme like this?

And I wait here
for what could be 2 minutes
Or What could be 5
As Saymour makes his way
from his wherever within to the door

I'm afraid this time
I may have been short with him
My tone in my "hi"
And he's a stroke victim

But when whoever dropped
The blank looking package
At the foot of the apartment,
My mind jumped to bomb

And it felt like a suspense film
With me waiting so long
In the flesh colored halls
And the blood red doors

Another day, the scheme's
Been repainted to cool blues and greys
But, with it came my look
At the wherever within the door

It felt like a horror film
With me stepping in
Beyond the cool hue of the
Newly bandaged door

There lay Saymour sprawled in filth
A stench no match for my mask
Beyond the APS’s reach
Beyond his family’s care
